Drinking a diet drink tricks the body into thinking it is getting sugar. When the body doesn't receive the sugar, it gets accustomed to eating sweets without having to break down the sugar.

I am no doctor, but I think that a general decrease in calories and increase daily exercise is the best way to lose weight. This study shows that drinking artificially sweetened drinks are not the way to lose weight without changing other aspects of your health.
